ABOUT

Channelling something of the symbolist movement, Nadya Polevich creates captivating, deeply poetic paintings, that somehow manage to be as contemporary as they are traditional. Her use of colour is remarkable – with a neon, vintage luminescence that creates an ethereal, other-worldly atmosphere. When not working with light, her use of texture and impasto technique is as deft; subverting the ethereal and grounding the characters in a very visceral way, as seen in Love and Farewell to the Wolf. It is fascinating to compare these two approaches.
